Orange Walk District

Orange Walk is the second largest District in Belize, bordering Mexico to the North, Guatemala to the West, Belize District to the East and Corozal District to the Northeast. Because of its size, this district contains numerous habitats but for reasons of brevity, they will be summarized into 5 broad ecosystems. These are:

  1. Riparian and Marshland areas
  2. Lowland Moist Broadleaf Forest
  3. Agricultural lands and temporary inundated fields
  4. Freshwater Lagoon
  5. Lowland Pine Savannah
